BTCC Media Day Donington Park March 2018

Following on from a wet morning, all 32 cars took part in a four hour test session at Donington Park. Prettiest car by far, Rob Austin’s Alfa Romeo Giulietta, it’ll be a sad day when it gets bent for the first time.

Truck Racing at Pembrey – October 2017

I was there, so how could I not go. First time at Pembrey, first time Truck Racing.

The excuse for the trip was to take some things down to my son who’s studying at Swansea University, and then have a weekend on the Gower. Other than the idea of a few days by the coast, I’d not planned anything before I left. I only discovered that there was truck racing at Pembrey when I was looking for things to do after I got there.

The circuit at Pembrey has fast sweeping corners and tight hairpins and is a about 1.5 miles in length. Spectators can get to nearly all of it. The meeting was for British Truck Racing Championship, Renault UK Clio Cup Junior, Mighty Minis and Welsh Racing Drivers Association which seemed to be a class for any car with a roof on it. The truck racing was much as I expected it to be, good fun, but not something that I’d rush to go again

With the remains of Hurricane Ophelia blowing straight at The Gower Peninsula, Chris and I took a trip to Rhossili. It was very windy. The people at the Coastwatch lookout told us that it was gusting at around 80mph.

  • Looe Music Festival 2017

    Looe Music Festival 2017

September 2017. On the beach at Looe, music, beer and pasties.

Friday afternoon, before the music started, I thought that I’d drive to Polperro for an ice cream. It’s a pretty place, but it’s not pretty enough to have to pay £4 to park just to have an ice cream. I drove on. I stopped at Lansallos, walked down to the beach and I was very glad that I did.

The headline acts weren’t the ones that I would have chosen, but I suppose that I can now say that I’ve seen Lulu, even if it was from a distance as I left.

On the Monday morning, after the festival, I drove up to the north coast and stayed for a few days at the C&MCC Treamble Valley club site which is 3 miles north of Perranporth.
